Forests created or improved Belvedere Forest

Italia

Why did we support this forest?

Belvedere Forest is almost 20 years old. You can venture among its silent oaks and hornbeams for a nice relaxing walk.

History of the forest

The Bosco Belvedere di Torre di Mosto is a green space characterised by dense tree cover that spans approximately 18 hectares. It was established in 1998 to reduce land used for agriculture, promote reforestation, enhance forestry, mitigate the greenhouse effect by absorbing carbon dioxide, and develop forestry activities on farms.

The forest was created as part of a reforestation project funded by EU agricultural grants, led by the “Il Bozzolo Verde” cooperative in partnership with Veneto Agricoltura, which supplied the trees. During the development of Belvedere Forest, species capable of producing flowers and pollen for bee breeding were selected and planted. The honeybees here reside in an apiary with approximately twenty hives, located in a protected clearing that receives ample sunlight. In spring and summer, when all the plants are blooming, nectar collection results in the production of abundant honey.

This forest is part of the Associazione forestale di Pianura.

Where is the forest located?

How we improved the forest

WOWnature intervened to improve management and boost the value of Belvedere Forest in a specific area of about 2.05 hectares. Working closely with the Municipality of Torre di Mosto and the Bozzolo Verde Cooperative, we initiated a thorough cleaning of the boundaries and paths to make the area safe, visible, and accessible for visitors. We then performed cleaning, mowing, and brush clearing to prevent forest fires, foster natural growth, and control invasive plants. Additionally, to improve the ecosystem’s health and strength, we conducted selective thinning and targeted cutting. Finally, we installed an information panel to inform and engage visitors about the forest’s ecological importance and updated the forest management plan.
