Forests created or improved Arte Sella
Why did we support this forest?
A forest that holds the most beautiful works of art: impossible to say where the artist’s work ends and nature’s begins.

History of the forest
At Arte Sella, art and nature blend into a unique outdoor museum. Here, trees are not just a backdrop—they are a vital part of the artworks displayed. Today, however, the forest requires support to heal from damage caused by Storm Vaia and a bark beetle infestation. Supporting this project means caring for this enchanting place, where everyone can enjoy a special experience of art, nature, and beauty.

How we improved the forest
Arte Sella has always fascinated those who love mountains, art, and nature. It’s a place that sparks subtle yet deep emotions through landscapes shaped by harmonious spaces, light, and colours.
In recent years, however, the forest around Arte Sella’s artworks has faced serious challenges. In 2018, Storm Vaia brought down many trees, and later, a bark beetle infestation (Ips typographus)—an insect that primarily targets mature spruce trees by boring tunnels beneath the bark—quickly killed many others.
To protect this extraordinary forest—visited yearly by over 100,000 people—WOWnature has already taken concrete actions:
- Planting various native species to create more resilient mixed forests;
- Maintaining existing forests to slow the spread of bark beetles;
- Improving the ecological quality of Arte Sella’s exhibition areas.
These new plantings not only enhance biodiversity but also help conserve the unique atmosphere that makes Arte Sella a true natural open-air museum.
