Forests created or improved Ring of Euganean Hills

Italia

Why did we support this forest?

We have planted 100 new trees along the Anello dei Colli Euganei cycling route, which will provide more shade to the cycling path.

History of the forest

The Euganean Hills Cycle Route passes through one of the most beautiful and biodiverse areas in the Veneto region. This cycle route is truly unique: the track winds its way through waterways, ancient abbeys and castles, stately villas and enchanting villages. As we cycle, breathtaking views constantly accompany us, and during breaks we can enjoy excellent wines and traditional gastronomic products, immersed in the colours and scents of the Euganean Hills countryside.

How we improved the forest

Thanks to the valuable contribution of the Colli Euganei Wine Route Association and local citizens, in November 2019, WOWnature was able to plant around 100 new trees along the Euganean Hills Cycle Ring. This intervention, in addition to enriching local biodiversity, offers valuable ecosystem benefits, including natural shade along the route, which significantly improves the visitor experience and helps preserve the unique beauty of this area.

The project involved mixed reforestation with native species typical of the natural formations of the eastern Veneto plain. A small mixed forest of forest plants (trees and shrubs about 50 cm high) and a row of trees about 150 cm high, equipped with supports, were planted along the edge of the cycle path.
