This area, with its reed beds and ponds, is a valuable habitat for many rare species and has been designated as a ‘wetland of international importance’ under the Ramsar Convention, as well as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area (SPA) within the Natura 2000 network. We are taking steps to safeguard biodiversity and restore this unique area to its former splendour.
