Forests created or improved Rossi Forest
Why did we support this forest?
It is a project focused on the health of both the environment and people—a step toward greener, more livable cities.
History of the forest
In Limena, within the province of Padua, a new urban forest is being established to enhance air quality and promote the overall well-being of the community. Bosco Rossi, named after the street where it is located, lies at the edge between the urban area and the rural landscape: a grassy space now bordered by a cycle path and a children’s playground. In the Veneto plain, where urban development pressure is high and air pollution is a constant issue, establishing new urban forests presents a practical and forward-looking solution.

How we improved the forest
The species chosen for this project were selected not only for their adaptability but also for their effectiveness in capturing fine particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5). The project involves creating three distinct environments, inspired by the natural elements typical of the plain:
- A naturalistic forest in the northern part of the area, with rows of trees and shrubs arranged in a sinuous pattern, reminiscent of spontaneous vegetation growth.
- A wooded strip on the south side, following the edge of the flood control basin, is designed to create continuity between the urban landscape and the countryside.
- A shrubbery within the basin, arranged in dense groups to ensure rapid vegetation cover and reduce maintenance.
Bosco Rossi exemplifies how nature can seamlessly integrate with the city, providing cleaner air, shade, biodiversity, and quality spaces for movement and outdoor activities. It is a project focused on the health of both the environment and people—a step toward greener, more livable cities.
