Forests created or improved Bosco del Quarelo
Why did we support this forest?
The project envisages the extension of the perturbing forest, which offers lovers of walking, jogging and nature in general a circuit of a couple of kilometres close to the city of Vicenza.
History of the forest
A few miles from the historic centre of Vicenza, among cultivated fields and paths often used by cyclists and walkers, lies the Bosco del Quarelo (Quarelo Forest). This green space, established in 2005, has become a vital green lung for the city’s outskirts over the years. Its strategic location makes it a landmark for the local community and an essential ecological corridor for wildlife.
Over time, the desire to expand this natural heritage has led to a new reforestation project: an opportunity to restore value to an uncultivated area with sparse vegetation, transforming it into a biodiversity-rich forest that can provide ecosystem services vital for both the environment and human health.
Where is the forest located?

How we improved the forest
The expansion of the Bosco del Quarelo involves planting around 2,400 trees and shrubs across an area of 13,000 square meters. The selected species – 22 in total – are all native, with a special focus on honey-producing varieties to promote pollinating insects and enhance the soil biodiversity and local fauna.
The project, carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Vicenza, offers tangible benefits to the community, including improved air quality, CO₂ absorption, reduced heat island effect, enhanced landscape, and increased well-being for residents and visitors.
The work began with soil preparation and the removal of spontaneous vegetation, followed by planting the trees with proper protection to support their growth. Over the next five years, the area will be maintained through irrigation, mowing, weed control, and replacement of any unsuccessful trees.
The goal is to create a resilient forest, connected to the urban fabric and capable of generating value for both current and future generations. An investment in nature, but most importantly, in the quality of life.
