Forests created or improved Casale sul Sile
Why did we support this forest?
Near the river Sile, in the province of Treviso, we are building a food forest to improve biodiversity, provide food and shelter for pollinating animals and insects, and create a place of discovery and ecological awareness.
History of the forest
Just a few steps from the banks of the River Sile, in Casale sul Sile in the province of Treviso, a food forest is taking shape: a new forest inspired by natural cycles and designed to become a place where biodiversity, education, and wellbeing come together. Until recently, the area, covering about one hectare, had no clear ecological structure. Today, thanks to the project, it is turning into a small ecosystem filled with life.

How we improved the forest
In collaboration with the Terra Madre Association, we designed a multifunctional forest that blends nature, community, and learning. The project involved planting numerous native species, including white hornbeam, English oak, ash, hazel, and lime, as well as fruit trees such as wild apple and blackthorn. This mix of trees and shrubs will form a lowland forest inspired by the oak-hornbeam woods, providing shelter for many animal species and pollinating insects.
Besides enhancing the environment, the food forest also serves an important educational purpose. It is meant to be a place of discovery where children and young people can learn firsthand about the importance of biodiversity, soil, and the coexistence of humans and nature. In this small green space, each plant offers an opportunity to foster ecological awareness.
