With this project, we demonstrate that viticulture and reforestation can coexist, creating a vineyard that is richer in life and better for the climate.
History of the forest
In the stunning setting of the Berici Hills, the Maple Vineyard – Vigna degli Aceri vineyard stands as an innovative agroforestry project. Here, a system has been established where trees and crops coexist, integrating nearly 950 trees among the rows of vines.

How we improved the forest
The focus is on the field maple, an ancient species that not only enriches biodiversity but also supports the vines through its remarkable bio-irrigation ability: it pulls water from the subsoil to make it accessible to the shallower roots, enhancing the hydration and health of the plants.
Ash, elm, cherry, apple, and wild pear trees will grow alongside the maples, increasing the ecological diversity of the area, providing fruit for wildlife, and helping to establish a more stable agro-ecological balance.
