Bosco delle origini
Just a stone’s throw from Modena, it is a new forest returning where the oaks and hornbeams of the Po Valley once dominated.
Once upon a time, the Po Valley was covered by vast oak and hornbeam forests, home to an extraordinary variety of plants, animals, and insects. Today, only a few traces of those original landscapes remain. The Bosco delle Origini project was created to bring back the nature of the past right here, in the heart of the plains, near Modena.
This project begins with a dream: to revive the native vegetation of the plains by creating a place where nature and people can meet, breathe, and grow together—through a forest that tells the story of the bond between past and future.
The goal is a true return to the origins, transforming agricultural land into a permanent forest with more than 1,300 new trees and nearly 50 native herbaceous species. These include plants like chamomile, lemon balm, and cornflower, which offer nectar and shelter to pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Some species, like mallow or red clover, naturally enrich the soil with nutrients, supporting the healthy growth of the forest. In this way, the herbaceous layer becomes a valuable ally for the soil and the biodiversity of the entire ecosystem.
The heart of the forest will be made up of the oak typical of the area, the English oak (Quercus robur), and the hornbeam, accompanied by fruit trees and shrubs. It will be a bright forest, with large canopies, that changes with the seasons and will one day offer spectacular blooms.
By adopting a tree in this place, you contribute to the restoration of biodiversity in a land that has endured centuries of intensive agriculture. It’s a forward-looking gesture: planting a tree here means reconnecting with your roots, helping to regenerate the landscape, and leaving a living legacy for future generations.
Adopt a tree here and plant it with us in autumn 2026.
