Sanpellegrino helps forests with WOWnature
In the Laghi di Bosco Limite area, in Carmignano di Brenta, an innovative project is taking shape that combines water resource protection with environmental regeneration. It is being promoted by Sanpellegrino, a leading company in the mineral water and soft drinks sector, in collaboration with the Consorzio Bonifica del Brenta, the Municipality of Carmignano di Brenta and with the scientific support of Etifor | Valuing Nature.
The objective is twofold: to recharge the Brenta basin aquifer, which has been severely tested in recent years by climate change, intensive use of resources and soil sealing, and at the same time to offer concrete support to local agriculture, especially during the summer months when water is scarce.
To address this challenge, Sanpellegrino has decided to support the project, which involves the creation of a natural water management system comprising two artificial basins: one dedicated to infiltration for aquifer recharge and one multifunctional, which will also serve as an irrigation reserve in case of emergency.
The project also involves planting 1,400 new trees and shrubs around the infiltration basin, along with herbaceous plants, and restoring permanent grasslands according to the principles of regenerative agriculture. These measures aim to increase biodiversity, absorb CO₂, reduce irrigation requirements and provide habitats for pollinators and wildlife.
