Adopt a tree and protect Monte Grappa

In the heart of the Seren Valley, within the prestigious setting of the UNESCO MAB “Monte Grappa” Biosphere Reserve, a project is taking shape that embodies care and hope. Here, across a 5-hectare area in the municipality of Seren del Grappa, nature is drawing strength to regenerate following the severe damage inflicted by Storm Vaia and the subsequent bark beetle infestation. Protecting this forest through the planting of new trees is essential if we are to preserve a landscape that symbolises our history and a unique ecosystem, restoring beauty and stability to a site recognised as a World Heritage Site.

The journey towards the project’s development begins with clearing and preparing the land, removing the remains of felled timber to make way for a new woodland comprising more than 5,000 new trees, chosen from native species such as beech, sycamore and common ash, selected for their ability to adapt and thrive in this alpine environment. The plants are planted in small groups, creating a layout that promotes biodiversity and is better equipped to withstand the challenges of the future. The benefits of this project directly affect the safety of those who live in and visit Seren del Grappa. Thanks to the roots of the new plants, the aim is to stabilise the slopes, thereby reducing the risk of landslides and avalanches, whilst the foliage will provide shade, clean air and shelter for birds.
