AGESCI helps forests with WOWnature
AGESCI – Associazione Guide e Scouts Cattolici Italiani (Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts Association) is one of Italy’s largest youth educational associations, long committed to shaping responsible citizens who are mindful of the common good. Among the founding values of the Scout movement is respect for nature, understood as a “creation” to be protected and cherished every day through concrete actions.
On the occasion of the 2024 Route Nazionale Capi, AGESCI chooses to take action on the environmental front as well: it supports the growth and protection of three Italian forests, making a tangible contribution to the safeguarding of the territory and the regeneration of forest ecosystems. During the #Arena24 event, the workshop “WOWnature: what will become of our forests?” is held — a space for discussion on the future of Italian forests, bringing together Scout leaders and sector professionals. From this dialogue comes the idea of building an AGESCI Manifesto for the responsible management of woodlands, a participatory document developed in the following months through a shared questionnaire.
At a time when forests are growing in area but risk being abandoned, AGESCI chooses to be present, doing its part for a greener, more aware, and more just future.
