The Observatory Venice Summer School helps forests with WOWnature

The Observatory Venice Summer School is a short, immersive, and intensive course held in one of the most beautiful and evocative settings in Europe: Venice.

It is a week of learning, dialogue, and exchange; it is an opportunity to share experiences with other professionals in this sector. The School is designed for policymakers, advisors, and influencers, including those at the national, regional, and local levels. The event allows participants to experience the rich history of Venice and Italian culture through customized group excursions and networking opportunities.

The Observatory Venice Summer School offers a unique blend of intensive work and social activities, all within a distinctive atmosphere.
It is organized by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, the Veneto Region of Italy, the European Commission, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

This year, the School is also extending its commitment to sustainability beyond the classroom. To mark the occasion, the Observatory has adopted 100 trees through WOWnature at Lio Piccolo, in the northern Venice Lagoon—just a short distance from San Servolo, where the course takes place. Here, new tamarisk and blackthorn trees are being planted to restore eroded banks, provide shelter for birds and fish, and protect this fragile landscape from the wind. It is a meaningful gesture: just as the School fosters knowledge and dialogue among future health policy leaders, these new trees will help nurture the Lagoon’s delicate ecosystem for years to come.
