RAA2025 helps forests with WOWnature
RAA is a biennial international event that brings together over 100 researchers working in the fields of science, archaeology, art history, conservation, and diagnostics, with a focus on the application of Raman spectroscopy to the study of cultural heritage. The twelfth edition of the International Conference on the Application of Raman Spectroscopy in Art and Archaeology (RAA) is organized by ICCOM-CNR of Pisa, in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence, the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, and the Department of Civilizations and Forms of Knowledge of the University of Pisa, which hosts the event. The conference is introduced by a training school dedicated to the theoretical and practical foundations of Raman spectroscopy applied to cultural heritage materials, dedicated to students and early-career researchers.
RAA2025 adopts an ethical and sustainable approach. The catering will be entirely vegetarian, made with organic and locally sourced products, thanks to a collaboration with a social cooperative based in Pisa that uses food preparation as a tool for social inclusion. This commitment aims to reduce the environmental impact of the event and promote sustainable agriculture.
In line with these values, the organization partners with WOWnature to foster environmental responsibility. A quota of the registration fee is allocated to support two reforestation projects: the Villa Roberti Forest in Italy and the Wellbeing Forest in Vietnam.
RAA2025 seeks to strengthen the connection between the scientific community and environmental protection initiatives, demonstrating how research can have a positive impact not only scientifically, but also socially and environmentally. This initiative aims to mark the beginning of a lasting collaboration between science and concrete actions for the planet.
