Forests created or improved Torre

Italia

Why did we support this forest?

A new urban forest in the city of Padua, which will absorb pollutants and make the city greener.

History of the forest

The Forest Torre was created within the project Padova O2

PadovaO2: The Green Lung of the City

The PadovaO2 urban reforestation project, promoted by the City of Padua’s Green, Parks, and Urban Agriculture Department in collaboration with Etifor | Valuing Nature, a spin-off of the University of Padua, aims to create a green lung of 10,000 trees, covering an area as large as 12 football pitches, spread across eight strategic areas of the city. Since 2018, citizens, associations, and companies have participated by “adopting” trees through WOWnature, directly contributing to the growth and development of new urban forests.

Where is the forest located?

How we improved the forest

PadovaO2 provides a concrete response to the need to redevelop urban areas, enhancing quality of life by increasing biodiversity, reducing atmospheric CO₂ (estimated at 150 tonnes per hectare annually, totalling 1,125 tonnes per year), improving the urban microclimate, and boosting the city’s ability to adapt to climate change.

The green areas of PadovaO2 were created with WOWnature:
