Forests created or improved Sacile Forest
Why did we support this forest?
In Carlino, Udine Province, lies one of the oldest lowland forests of the Po Valley.
History of the forest
In Carlino, in the province of Udine, the Bosco Sacile forest is one of the last examples of lowland forest in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Once extensive and lush, this forest still retains the charm of the forests that once covered the Po Valley, offering glimpses of authentic nature and serving as a refuge for many wild species. Over the years, however, the forest has suffered serious damage: unsustainable logging, lack of careful forest management, and, in 2017, a violent storm with wind gusts of up to 120 km/h, which significantly compromised its stability. For a long time, it remained abandoned and inaccessible. In 2018, it was reborn: thanks to the efforts of Società Agricola Natura7, the forest underwent a major improvement project.

How we improved the forest
The regeneration of the Sacile Forest involved sustainable forest management, selective thinning, reopening of trails, and the introduction of new native species to enhance biodiversity and strengthen the ecosystem’s resilience. The project also received support from Miko Dinamica®, an Italian company committed to environmental responsibility, following the MARC (Measure, Avoid, Risks, Communicate) approach.
This forest is part of the Associazione Forestale di Pianura (Lowland Forest Association).
