Pianta della famiglia delle Rosacee. Varietà rustica di susino cino-giapponese di origine americana, coltivata già a fine ‘800 e chiamata anche Shiro. Pianta dal portamento aperto, di vigore elevato, molto produttiva. Il Susino Goccia d`Oro produce un Frutto di pezzatura medio grossa con una forma rotonda o cuoriforme. Ha una scorza gialla, come la polpa, che si presenta molto succosa e dal sapore dolce.
Utilizzato nella medicina cinese
È molto ricco di zuccheri, quindi poco indicato nelle cure dimagranti, ma molto utile nel recupero dei liquidi persi nella sudorazione, essendo molto succoso. Questi frutti contengono antiossidanti e hanno una funzione antinfiammatoria molto importante per l’organismo.
In Cina, la frutta è preparata in forma conservata trattandola con zucchero, sale e liquirizia.
