Adopt a tree and protect Alta Badia

Italia
• Corvara in Badia (BZ)

Why support this forest?

In the heart of the Dolomites, just steps away from Alta Badia’s most beloved ski slopes and hiking trails, the forest was severely affected, first by Storm Vaia and then by a bark beetle infestation. Today, we are planting new trees of various species to accelerate forest recovery and make it more resilient to future extreme weather events and the climate crisis.

Protect Alta Badia

It's not enough to plant new trees; we must protect forests from abandonment, fires, illegal logging, biodiversity loss, wind, and disasters.

If you adopt a tree in this forest, you can plant it in person during WOW events.

You’ll receive an email with the details one month before the event (even if you’ve chosen the Protect this Forest option).

Participate with whoever you like and share your passion for nature! We respect nature’s rhythms, which is why we plant trees in spring and fall, taking environmental conditions into account. If you can’t attend, we’ll take care of planting your tree.

How we are improving the forest

The intervention area is located in the Municipality of Corvara in Badia (BZ), a highly popular tourist destination frequented year-round by hikers, athletes, and skiers from all over the world.

In recent years, this beautiful landscape has suffered severe damage: in 2018, Storm Vaia toppled numerous trees, and subsequently, the bark beetle (Ips typographus), an insect that primarily attacks mature spruce trees, killed thousands of trees, leaving significant scars on the mountainsides.

Due to these events, the slopes now face an increased risk of landslides, the forests suffer from biodiversity loss, and the overall landscape has experienced degradation.

We are implementing reforestation by planting native species, such as spruce, larch, birch, and green alder, as well as other broadleaf trees, to enhance forest biodiversity, making it stronger and healthier. The introduction of broadleaf species will also help the new forest adapt to rising temperatures.
