Why did we support this forest?
Thanks to the initiative “a tree for every newborn” supported by the City of Feltre and to the people of the WOWnature community, 300 new trees have now been planted.
History of the forest
On the night of October 29, 2018, Storm Vaia changed the landscape of many areas in the northeast, knocking down over 42 million trees in just a few minutes. Feltre was also severely impacted, and among the uprooted trees was the forest that had always been part of the days of the students at the “A. Della Lucia” Higher Education Institute in Vellai. A familiar and peaceful place, suddenly destroyed by the fury of the wind.

How we improved the forest
Thanks to the support of the Feltre Municipality, which promoted the initiative “a tree for every newborn,” and the generosity of the WOWnature community, a new forest has now been created in that area. Three hundred new trees have been planted— a tangible gesture to give back to nature what was lost and to provide students with a new outdoor learning space where they can observe the growth of trees and rediscover the importance of time and care. A small forest, symbolising rebirth, memory, and the future.
