Adopt a tree and protect Lio Piccolo, Venice Lagoon
Why support this forest?
The Venice Lagoon is a vital habitat for many animal and plant species. At Lio Piccolo, we are planting new trees along the banks, not only to improve the landscape but also to provide shelter for birds and fish and to fight erosion.

Protect Lio Piccolo, Venice Lagoon
It's not enough to plant new trees; we must protect forests from abandonment, fires, illegal logging, biodiversity loss, wind, and disasters.

How we are improving the forest
For nature lovers, the northern lagoon of Venice, with its salt marshes, offers ideal spots for observing lagoon flora and fauna without disturbance. Lio Piccolo is one of the most captivating environments in the Veneto region, perfect for exploring by bicycle.
The area in which we are working was once a fishing valley, marked by a series of wetlands and tree-lined banks. Over the past 30 years, neglect has caused silting and the loss of trees that protected and supported local wildlife.
Our reforestation project includes restoring the banks and planting 30,000 new trees typical of the northern Venice Lagoon environment, such as tamarisk and juniper. In winter, these trees help reduce the impact of the Bora wind, while in summer, they create shaded areas, offering better conditions for fish and birdlife. Besides strengthening the banks and preventing tidal erosion, the new trees improve the phytoremediation of the waters.
