A protected area of exceptional value: a natural, artistic and historical treasure that is absolutely unique on a national level.

Valletta del Silenzio is a protected area of exceptional value: a natural, artistic and historical treasure that is absolutely unique on a national level. Ditches, hedges and tree rows, agricultural crops (typical of the Venetian plain), and the surrounding hills make it a unique and cherished site. In 1992, within Valletta del Silenzio, in an area owned by the Municipality and previously used as a plant nursey, the new educational nature oasis “Valletta del Silenzio” was created in collaboration with the Regional Forestry Corps.

The Oasis underwent an environmental requalification operation in order to conserve and increase biodiversity and to promote naturalistic and educational activities. Typical countryside settings such as hedges, an orchard, an enclosed field, the PO Valley planting lay-out, a pond and a forest have been recreated. Trails with educational panels were also created as an additional aid when visiting the oasis. In 2015, urban vegetable gardens were planned and created in the area previously occupied by the municipal plant nursery. In Stradella della Rotonda, a “landscape road”, which was unique precisely because of its proximity to the Rotonda, was transformed into a section of residential road with attached cycling lane.

This forest is part of Associazione Forestale di Pianura (Lowland Forest Association).
