Why did we support this forest?
The trees at Via dei Fiori and Via dei Pioppi Forests will take care of tourists’ well-being, providing shade and fresh air for picnics on hot summer days, and improving the landscape, making Eraclea Mare even more beautiful.
History of the forest
The Via dei Fiori e Pioppi Forest is located a short distance from Eraclea Mare (VE), in a transition zone between the built-up area and the countryside behind it. It is a relatively new green space that only started taking the form of a real forest in 2013. Some of the trees, such as elms, ash trees, and poplars, have grown well, creating a structure within an environment that is gradually evolving into a genuine forest ecosystem.
This forest is part of the Associazione Forestale di Pianura (Pianura Forestry Association).

How we improved the forest
In 2013, a reforestation project was launched on 2 hectares, involving the planting of various native species arranged in winding rows. Among the trees planted are field maple, hackberry, manna ash, ash, white and black poplar, elm, hornbeam, and holm oak. These are complemented by shrub species such as Mayball, Scotch broom, sea buckthorn, and spindle tree. The result is a young forest taking shape: a healthy young forest that continues to grow and develop over time. Today, the forest is an evolving space demonstrating how even a marginal area can be reborn and become a shared asset for the community.
