October 2025 – Updates from Fontaniva Forest
We returned to Fontaniva Forest, along the Brenta river, to monitor the condition of the plants planted in 2022, when there was still a cornfield here. Today, this area is being transformed into a real lowland forest, populated by species typical of the Po Valley such as poplar, hawthorn and many others.
During our monitoring, we checked the rooting of the young plants and the data is very encouraging: the poplars have already surpassed our team in height, while even slower-growing species such as hawthorn are reaching significant sizes. In addition, maintenance in the early years and the possibility of using surface irrigation allowed the trees to survive the drought of 2022 without damage.
Fontaniva Forest is growing strongly, improving biodiversity and restoring nature to an area that has long been marked by intensive agriculture. We will continue to monitor the evolution of the forest in the coming months together with people and companies who believe in the value of environmental regeneration.
