September 2024 – Update from the forests of Alta Badia
During our most recent site visit at an elevation of 2,000 meters, near Corvara, we conducted another monitoring survey to assess the growth of the trees planted three years ago and led a planting day together with local residents and partner companies. On this occasion, we also planted several broadleaf trees: native species that integrate well and adapt to the conditions of the Alpine environment.
The data collected in the field show patchy establishment—which is entirely normal for high-altitude mountains—and an average height of about 50 cm for the saplings. The young trees are focusing their energy on developing strong, deep roots in the soil.
Furthermore, in preparation for the cold weather, we’re leaving the grass and small shrubs around the trees: they act as a natural blanket that keeps the soil temperature stable and prevents frost from damaging the roots.

September 2024 – Update from the Forests of Alta Badia
In Alta Badia, the forests have suffered enormous damage due to Storm Vaia and the bark beetle infestation. At WOWnature, we’ve taken action to restore life and biodiversity to these areas through reforestation and responsible forest management. We engage citizens and businesses in tree-adoption projects, selecting more resilient species and creating more diverse forests. This helps build more resilient ecosystems that are better able to adapt to climate change and future events.
June 2024 – Update from the forests of Alta Badia
During our last mission to Alta Badia, we visited the project in Campolongo, where we have been planting trees for the last three years thanks to your support. April 2024 – Renasciüda, the rebirth of the forests in Alta Badia
“Renasciüda”, a Ladin word meaning “rebirth”, is a day for all the people and families who love this area and, like us, want to repair the terrible damage caused by Storm Vaia in 2018. It was a tragic event that destroyed entire sections of forest. The name Renasciüda represents the rebirth of Corvara, where we aim to plant 1,000 new trees together, discovering the area and having fun together.
The event is organised by Cooperativa Turistica and Alta Badia Brand, in collaboration with WOWnature, an initiative by Etifor, a spin-off of the University of Padua, which helps citizens and businesses to grow new forests and take care of existing ones.
