May 2026 – Updates from the Parco dell’Amicizia forest
Four years after the project began, the area has moved beyond the initial planting phase to become a green infrastructure capable of actively protecting the banks of the Brenta.
Bank stabilisation exceeds expectations
Monitoring carried out at the end of May reveals the success of the strategy launched in 2022 at Tezze sul Brenta. In areas with deeper soil, the young plants have shown accelerated growth in both height and diameter. This development has allowed the roots to anchor firmly, fulfilling the project’s objective: to increase biodiversity and stabilise the riverbank.
Active management to combat soil stress
The proximity to the river results in soil rich in pebbles, which leads to uneven root establishment. In the most challenging and compacted areas, WOWnature’s active management intervenes with targeted care. The timely mowing of tall grass reduces competition for light and nutrients, optimising vital resources and increasing the stability of the riverbank.
Monitoring and maintenance
The regeneration of a river ecosystem is not limited to planting. The long-term maintenance plan transforms a construction site into a permanent defence against the effects of the climate crisis. Constant monitoring, supported by adoption schemes involving citizens and businesses, ensures the protection of the area.
