November 2025 – Updates from Moranzani Forest
Three years after planting, WOWnature’s reforestation project in Moranzani Forest continues to yield concrete results. We returned to this forest, a stone’s throw from the Venice lagoon, to monitor the growth of the trees planted in autumn 2022 and assess the evolution of the area over time.
What emerges is a very positive picture, confirming the importance of careful planning and constant management.
Three years later: growth beyond expectations
During monitoring, we found that more than 99% of the trees had taken root, well above the average for interventions of this type. The growth of the plants is also particularly significant: some have already reached 3-4 meters in height in just three years.
These figures tell the story of a young but rapidly evolving forest, capable of developing quickly and moving towards an increasingly stable and functional structure from an ecological point of view.
A forest designed to be accessible
Moranzani Forest was designed from the outset as an inclusive and accessible space. For this reason, in addition to the condition of the trees, the update also involved checking the footpaths, furniture, and information boards to ensure that everything is in good condition and accessible to all, including people with disabilities.
The maintenance of the infrastructure is an integral part of the project and helps to make the forest a lively place that is open to the community.

August 2023 – Updates from Moranzani Forest
A short distance from Venice, WOWnature’s reforestation project continues in Bosco Moranzani. What was until recently an agricultural area is now a growing forest, created thanks to the support of the WOWnature community, Volksbank, and the Ministry of the Environment.
Here we are accompanying the birth of a new forest, carefully monitoring every stage, from planting to caring for the young trees.
From planting to forest: the work of the early years
Last fall, over 5,000 trees were planted. But creating a forest is not just about planting seedlings: planting is only the first step in a long and delicate process. The early years are crucial for the trees to take root, grow, and overcome competition from herbaceous plants.
For this reason, a long-term care and management plan has been drawn up for Moranzani Forest.
Care, maintenance, and accessibility
The project includes a 7-year maintenance plan, with up to five grass cuttings each summer and emergency irrigation during periods of extreme drought. In addition to these activities, there is the maintenance of the paths, a central aspect of the project: Moranzani Forest is designed to be a forest accessible to everyone, including people with mobility difficulties.
During the summer update, the seedlings are in good condition. It is still too early for a definitive assessment, which will be carried out between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, when monitoring will allow for a more accurate analysis of the health of the forest.
