May 2026 – Updates from the Zucka Skatepark Urban Forest
Five years after they were planted, the trees—now up to 3 meters tall—have created a true living barrier around the skatepark. The young trees, planted to integrate sports with nature, are thriving.
Steady Growth and Shaded Areas
Monitoring data show steady development: thanks to constant care, the vegetation planted in 2021 has grown significantly. This growth not only creates a natural barrier from the nearby industrial area and the busy adjacent road but is also beginning to provide the first shaded areas for skatepark visitors, making the public space more pleasant on hot days.
Regular Ground Maintenance
This result is the product of careful management: over the past few years, consistent maintenance has made all the difference. Periodic mowing and irrigation during the summer months have allowed native species such as the field maple, the manna ash, and the holm oak to survive their first years after planting, protecting them from competition with weeds and ensuring steady growth.
