Dolomites Bike Day and Sellaronda Bike Day: WOWnature together in Alta Badia

We are ready for the first planting of the season in Alta Badia. Yes, the long-awaited moment has arrived: we are going to plant the adopted trees at Passo Campolongo (Corvara), an area hard hit by the 2018 Vaia storm.

Trees, forests, sustainable tourism in Alta Badia: an unbreakable bond

Try to imagine yourself riding your bike, with the wind in your hair, the gears climbing, your legs starting to grind, the jokes with friends, the magnificent passes of Alta Badia and those that surround it, the majestic mountains, the woods and forests of the Dolomites. After a few kilometers you arrive at the Campolongo Pass, Corvara, drink some water to refresh yourself and realize that you are in the area where, more than two years ago, the Vaia storm, one of the most extreme climatic events in recent history, struck. And it is precisely on the slopes of this pass that one of the most eagerly awaited and significant installations of the summer season will take place: the date is June 20, the day after the Dolomites Bike Day, one of the biggest cycling events in the Dolomites that will pass through this pass as well as through Valparola and Falzarego.

We didn’t choose this date at random: Alta Badia is one of the most famous Dolomite destinations in the world, visited every year by many tourists who appreciate the nature, biodiversity, forests, healthy air, good food and the variety of sports activities that can be practiced, including amateur and professional cycling.

Because there is an indissoluble link between the tree, symbol and metaphor for the fight against climate change, the forest and sustainable tourism: creating new forests and protecting existing ones is one of the ways to continue to frequent the mountains in a responsible way and ensure that everyone in the future can enjoy this spectacle of nature.

The pictures you see below were taken during the last planting of 2020 right at Passo Campolongo. On that occasion, due to Covid-19, it was not possible to organize a public event: the event of June 20, however, will be a real live planting during which all those who have adopted a species in this area will be able to plant with us their tree.

Participating is very simple: just click on the button below, adopt a tree, sign up for the form to participate in the event and that’s it. And if you want to stay overnight in Alta Badia, at this link you will find the complete list of available accommodations!

Dolomites Bike Day: riding through the Dolomites without traffic

On June 19, the Dolomite passes will be the protagonists of the Dolomites Bike Day, one of the biggest cycling events in the Dolomites. The 51 km long bike day route touches 3 legendary passes that have made the history of the Giro d’Italia, in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and part of the passes covered on the occasion of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel in July: the Valparola, Falzarego and Campolongo passes will become the unique setting for this non-competitive cycling event, open to cyclists of all levels and free of charge. And it’s no coincidence that the Maratona Dles Dolomites, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year in Alta Badia, also passes through this route.

Experience the Dolomites without traffic is an appointment not to be missed. Visit the website for more information.

Sellaronda Bike Day: on the Dolomite passes around the Sella Group

If you love bicycles and the Dolomites, don’t miss the Sellaronda Bike Day on June 27th, the bike day around the Sella Group. For the occasion, the roads and passes of the famous Sellaronda are closed to motorized traffic from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and reserved for cyclists. It is not necessary to register and there is no fixed starting point. Everyone starts from the valley of his preference, from Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Val di Fassa or Arabba. The 53 km long tour leads over the Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo Passes and has a total altitude difference of 1600 meters. There is no limit to the number of participants and everyone can pedal as and when they feel like it.

Whether it’s a sporting challenge or an excursion on two wheels with friends or family: participate and enjoy the beautiful Dolomite landscapes along the way.

What are you waiting for? The Sellaronda is waiting for you: get in the saddle and start cycling!
