What is climate change?

Climate change is undoubtedly one of the most critical and urgent issues of our time. Extreme weather events extremes are becoming more frequent and intense, leading to a real real climate crisis. But there is hope: nature itself offers us tools to deal with this emergency, and one of the most powerful allies are trees.

What’s climate change?

Before understanding how trees can help in the fight against climate change, it is essential to understand what this phenomenon is. Climate is determined by the sum and frequency of weather events, and what we are experiencing is an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme events such as floods, droughts, and heat waves. This climate crisis is leading our planet to experience a kind of permanent fever.

The importance of trees in fighting climate change

Let’s first clear the air of any misunderstanding. The first thing we need to do to combat climate change is to reduce as much as possible, and as soon as possible, all CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. In this journey to combat climate change, trees are valuable valuable allies. Through photosynthesis, they capture carbon dioxide (CO2) and release oxygen, thus helping to reduce CO2 levels
in the atmosphere. Each tree can capture about five to ten kilograms of CO2 per year, which is crucial considering that each European citizen emits about seven tons of CO2 each year.

WOWnature’s action in the nature conservation

WOWnature is committed to caring for the environment by offering two main actions. On the one hand, it allows you to contribute to the growth of new forests by planting new trees. On the other, it enables the protection of existing ecosystems, preserving centuries-old forests and entire habitats.

A collective effort to protect nature

The climate crisis requires concrete actions and a collective commitment. Each of us can actively contribute by planting
trees, participating in reforestation projects and reducing the impacts of our lifestyle. We must also not forget to protect the existing ecosystems and forests that may be threatened by the crisis climate.
