Bosco Otello

Italia
Gaiarine (TV)

One of the last examples of existing lowland forest in the Province of Treviso.

Bosco Otello is one of the last examples of existing lowland forest in the Province of Treviso. It is an area that, thanks to the financial effort of the owners and with the partial contribution of the Treviso Province, has been equipped with an additional forested section of 5 hectares along its perimeter. A prevailing presence of common oak, white hornbeam, ash, field maple and elm trees dominates the forest.

Shrub and herbaceous vegetation is also very diverse and interesting. Local fauna is mainly composed of invertebrates and birds. Despite its modest size this area has enormous importance from a historical, naturalistic and scientific point of view. A pond, having educational functions, has also been created. This will allow additional feeding of the water table. The area can be visited by school and tour groups, subject to prior reservation.

This forest is part of Associazione Forestale di Pianura (Lowland Forest Association).
