Did you know that centuries ago the lowland forests were spread all over the Po Valley? Today, in order to make room for human activities, the forested area has been drastically reduced. Luckily, however, in the last few years several projects to restore the ancient habitat have been developed. In Quarto d’Altino, not far from the Venetian coast, the Le Crete forest was born and today covers an area as wide as 10 football pitches. Within this forest, several paths, that can be explored by bike, twist and turn in the shade of oaks, hornbeams and ashes, with the songs of the birds that inhabit it keeping you company.
