Calici di Stelle

The land, you know, is generous: it takes care of us, guarding our cities in the shade of its rolling hills and delighting us with its fruits, making us feel at home. Thus, in the heart of the Euganean Hills blossoms a medieval jewel where time seems to have stood still: Arquà Petrarca, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, a place rich in history and traditions, which was the home of the great poet Francesco Petrarca.

And it is precisely this history, these traditions and this territory that the Colli Euganei Wine Road Association wants to enhance and protect: on 9, 10 and 11 August Arquà Petrarca will host Calici di Stelle, the most awaited event for wine tourists and wine lovers, during which you can taste the delicious DOC and DOCG Colli Euganei wines, accompanied by the delicious local dishes.

But this year there is something new: just as the land takes care of us and gives us its fruits, so the Colli Euganei Wine Road Association wants to take care of the territory.

How?

  • By measuring the impact of the event, through the technical support provided by Etifor
avoiding the waste of resources. In fact, the use of paper for the promotion of the event will be reduced and ecological areas will be created to differentiate the waste produced in the best possible way, allowing its recycling whenever possible.
  • Reducing the amount of plastic in the event: the tableware used by exhibitors will all be made of compostable material. Moreover, the water inside the event will be put on sale by the exhibitors in Bio Bottle S. Anna and will be made available free of charge thanks to the collaboration with Acque Venete.
  • Offsetting the CO₂ emissions generated, through two methods: the planting of 80 new trees along the Ring of the Euganean Hills and the purchase of a few tons of CO2 conserved by the Bandiziol and Prasaccon Forests of the Plain Forest Association.

These interventions do not only respond to the need to create a more sustainable event, but they also aim to enhance the Terme e Colli Euganei destination, where the Wine Cities and the Regional Park have their home, preserving its beauty and balance.

Active forest areas

The Bandiziol and Prasaccon Forests are the largest lowland woods in Eastern Veneto, planted between 1994 and 1997.
